Monitoring exercise within the Municipality to ascertain the effects of the heavy downpour
After the heavy downpour on Friday the 22nd of May, 2026, NADMO Director and some staff of Ayawaso Central Municipality began a monitoring exercise within the Municipality to ascertain the effects of the rain.
At Alajo North the flooding was intense. Flooding homes and cars were stuck in the rain water turning into an hour traffic jam.
NADMO officials helped in directing cars with short and deliberate signs
In an hour the waters started receding and cars began to move fast and forward.
The team’s response showed how quick, calm and coordination can turn chaos into order.
HANDOVER OF EQUIPMENTS TO MASTER CRAFT PERSONS AND APPRENTICES
The National Youth Authority Unit of the Ayawaso Central Municipal Assembly on 11th May 2026 organized a Handover ceremony of Equipment to Master Craft Persons and Apprentices under the National Apprenticeship Program.
Present at the ceremony was the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso central Hon. Abdul Rauf Tubazu, the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Rudolf Collingwoode-Williams, the Greater Accra Regional Coordinator for the National Apprenticeship Program Mr. Jones Klutse, the Coordinating Director Mr. Ismael Nana Ogyefo, Unit Head for the National Youth Authority Madam Mary Kailey Marnah and other Heads of Department and Units.
A total number of Twenty-Five apprentice were trained by Four Trainers, with each Trainer training five apprentice each.
The presentations were done by the Member of Parliament Hon Tubazu with assistance from the M.C.E Hon Rudolph.
Twenty pieces of sewing machines were presented to the apprentices and four pieces of Industrial Machines were presented to Trainers.
The Beneficiaries thanked the Government through the MP and the Municipal Chief Executive, adding it will improve their livelihoods, and the Trainers also promised to train more apprentices in future with the help of the Industrial Machines they received.

Detailed Account of the Election Process for the Position of Presiding Member (PM)
This report presents a detailed account of the election process for the position of Presiding Member (PM) of the Ayawaso Central Municipal Assembly. The election was conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Local Government Act, 1993 (Act 462), which mandates that a Presiding Member must be elected from among Assembly Members by at least a two-thirds (2/3) majority of all members.
The election formed part of the Assembly’s constitutional responsibility to constitute its leadership for effective governance and coordination of assembly proceedings.
SITUATIONAL UPDATE – ACCRA NEW TOWN BUILDING COLLAPSE
On 29th March 2026 at about 4:45pm, a storey building collapsed at Accra New Town (Experimental School area), resulting in casualties and injuries.
Emergency responders, including the Ghana National Fire Service, NADMO, Ghana Armed Forces, Police, and Ambulance Service, swiftly intervened to rescue victims.
Also the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ayawaso Central, Hon. Rudulf Collingwoode-Williams, paid a visit to victims receiving treatment at various hospitals.
The visit formed part of efforts to assess the condition of victims and offer support to affected persons and their families.
All victims have been accounted for, and the site has been secured. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the collapse.

Stakeholders Engagement at Mallam Atta Mrket
Pursuant to the Assembly’s invitation, a stakeholders’ engagement was held with traders at Mallam Atta Market on Tuesday, 17th February 2026 at 3:00 p.m. The purpose of the meeting was to brief traders on the implementation of the upgrading of Mallam Atta Market Phase I and the construction of the 24-Hour Economy Market Health Centre (Ground and First Floor).
The team met with market women, traders, and market leaders and explained the scope of the project, the areas to be affected, and the temporary arrangements to ensure smooth commencement of the works. The information was well understood, and the traders expressed their willingness to cooperate with the Assembly.

The Ayawaso Central Municipal Assembly marked the 41st National Farmer’s Day Celebration with a colourful and memorable event held at the Accra Technical Training Centre (ATTC). The ceremony brought together farmers, dignitaries, community leaders, students, and residents to honour hardworking farmers whose dedication continues to contribute significantly to food security and local economic development
ACMA Kicks Off ‘Tree For Life’ Reforestation Initiative
The Ayawaso Central Municipal Assembly on Wednesday, July 9 2025, participated in a series of tree planting exercise to kick start the “TREE FOR LIFE” Reforestation Initiative, 2025. This initiative is a government flagship program under the Forestry Commission aimed at promoting afforestation and agroforestry. The initiative will see the government distribute seven million seedlings of ornamental and food crops by various government agencies, the private sector, and the general public for planting. The ‘Tree for Life’ initiative seeks to raise awareness about the critical role trees play in protecting the environment and combating climate change.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Rudolph Collingwoode-Williams, alongside the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Ishmael Nana Ogyefo, The Municipal Agric Director, Mrs. Matina Mensah, The Principal of the Accra Technical Training Center, and some Assembly members gathered at the school garden of the Accra Technical Training Center for the exercise. A couple of seedlings ( gauva, coconut, orange etc) were planted in the school garden by officials present.
The Municipal Chief Executive interacted with some students and pledged his support to them.
